Home locks, rekeying and keys cut

New house, lost keys, or someone who shouldn’t still has one? Rekeying changes the inside of the locks you already have, so every old key stops working, and it costs less than new hardware. We fit and replace deadlocks, entrance sets, sliding door and screen door locks and keyed window locks. We also cut keys on site from the van, so you can sort spares for the family, a neighbour or a key safe while we’re there.

Business and commercial locks

Shops, offices, workshops and depots need locks that cope with daily use. We install and service commercial locks and door closers, and set up restricted key systems so keys can only be copied with your written authority. A master key system lets you open every door while staff only open the ones they need.

Renting in Rockhampton: locks and the rules

Rockhampton has a big rental market, and Queensland has clear rules about locks. Since 1 September 2024, every rental must have working locks or latches on external doors and windows, and the owner supplies them and gives each tenant a key. Changing the locks normally needs the tenant and the owner to agree, except in an emergency or where a tenant is experiencing domestic and family violence. We work with tenants, owners and property managers, and we confirm who’s authorising the job before we start.

Rockhampton heat and your locks

Rockhampton sits right on the Tropic of Capricorn. Long hot summers, dust and wet-season humidity dry out and gum up locks, and homes out at Yeppoon and Emu Park also get salt air. A key that drags or has to be jiggled is the one that snaps. We service locks with the right dry lubricant, replace worn or corroded cylinders, and can clean out locks that have had floodwater or silt through them.

Upfront pricing, no surprises

A locksmith’s price usually has two parts: a call-out fee to get to you, and the labour and parts for the job. After-hours call-outs cost more than business hours. We give you both on the phone before we come out, and confirm the total on site before any work starts. If the job turns out bigger than described, you hear the new price first and can say no.

Licensed locksmiths only

Queensland locksmiths must hold a security equipment installer licence under the Security Providers Act 1993, which means criminal history checks and training. Ask for licence details when you book and when the locksmith arrives, and check them on the Office of Fair Trading register. A genuine locksmith will happily show you.
